water drop

Annual report 2024

JUST A SINGLE DROP....but watch the ripples of change moving outward!

The ripples created by a single drop of water have become a powerful way to envision our ongoing LCN mission: Empower African leaders as agents of transformation for individuals, organizations and society.

We celebrated an important milestone in May, 2024, when our first LCN graduate received an International Coaching Federation (ICF) coaching credential.  This is a major achievement—requiring 60 training hours, 100 coaching hours of experience, and passing both a written exam and evaluation of a recorded coaching conversation.

Best of all, she is the first Ethiopian to be awarded an ICF professional coaching credential! Her name is Abenet Legesse (left, receiving a gift celebrating her achievement).  Abenet has now joined our LCN faculty. She will assist in our courses and is a tremendous role model for many in our network to follow in her footsteps!

Strategic Direction #1 — Transform Individuals

Transforming leadership begins when African leaders begin practicing an other-focused style of servant leadership.  They become “agents of transformation” empowering other leaders to fulfill their God-given callings and potential.  This coaching mindset is the foundation for everything we offer in our 60 hours of leadership coaching training.

coaching for transformation number of cohorts trained

In just three years, our Coaching for Transformation course landing page has recorded 3,263 visits and 1,254 clicks. Our 400+ students each joined because a friend who took the course recommended it to them.

In 2023 we were honored to have our course accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the “gold standard” for excellence in coaching training across 154 nations worldwide.

Strategic Direction #2 — Transform Organizations

From transforming individual leaders, LCN moves on to help these individuals transform their organizations. I now am officially partnering with 12 organizations in Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Egypt.

In 2024, my training and consulting work with large Christian NGO’s like Compassion International-Ethiopia (serving 136,000 poor Ethiopian children through 588 local congregations) and EvaSUE (serving over 50,000 Ethiopian university students on 140 campuses). Each organization has over 100 staff, and both have huge footprints in Ethiopian society.

I’m coaching the leaders and staff of each organization to build a “coaching culture” that impacts how they minister to hundreds of children or college students every day all across Ethiopia..  Watch these 5-minute testimonies from the National Directors of Compassion Ethiopia and EvaSUE about how partnering with LCN is impacting their ministries.

Strategic Direction #3—Transform Society

In 2024 we had growing opportunities to move beyond individuals and organizations to influence society at large.  One way is influencing organizations with society-wide impact like Compassion International and EvaSUE featured above.  Watch the above videos to learn more from their leaders!

In July, 2024, I spent a week in Zimbabwe with the top leaders of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe (EFZ), a consortium of all evangelical denominations in the country.  This led to a Coaching for Transformation cohort of EFZ leaders this fall; a second cohort is planned for February, 2025.

These national leaders in Zimbabwe are convinced that a leadership coaching mindset is exactly what their pastors need to better serve their congregations and communities. Watch this video to hear them share their stories!

empowering leaders

In 2024, a final way LCN began reaching beyond individuals and organizations is through our new LCN YouTube Channel.  We already offer 34 videos of first-person stories of how coaching is impacting the lives of African leaders. Take a look!
